Super Low Stakes

I dream that I’m playing Legos with some girl friends, we have a big, yellow tent and we’re supposed to play camping with, but nobody is really committing. I send everyone away because I just want to play on my own at this point, and now I’m the one on the mountains, sleeping in the yellow tent.

In the morning I see a woman cutting down grass from a meadow, she’s working hard and I want to help, but she says she’s good on her own. I insist, eventually she says I can go with her to the store. We climb down to the village, the woman apologizes because it’s summer and too hot, but I don’t feel hot at all.

I want to buy snacks, but the village store is so small there’s barely some chips. The shop keeper wants to sell us pizza, we don’t know how to tell her we already made our own from scratch.

I Wanna Go Hiking And I Can’t

I dream that I’m going to the mountains to see snow, but there is no snow. Instead, a beach of sand that looks like garden dirt and rough, deep lake water. People are sitting under umbrellas, children are playing and swimming, a journalist is interviewing an old man: he says he likes the sea but this is a good alternative. His son and daughter-in-law laugh as they say they threatened the owner to get a spot on this beach, it was worth it to see Dad happy. This angers me and I yell at them. A storm comes.

Then I dream that a friend from the other side of the world sent me an envelope full of stickers. As I go through them my dad asks if he can have some and tries to grab one, I say hold on, lemme check them first. He’s disappointed. I find in the envelope a bottle opener, then more and more stuff. I prepare a plastic bag with all the stuff, cleaning supplies I share between my mom and grandma, (Gran is enthusiastic, mom suspicious about the foreign labels,) DIY items that end up with a neighbor. Nothing for dad, he’s disappointed.

My Family Has Lived In A Mountain Village For Generations

I dream that I’m staying at a hotel. It’s pretty quiet until a mom with a bunch of kids arrives (or maybe she’s a teacher?). Nobody in their group is wearing a mask and I’m pissed about it. One of the kids, about eleven years old, brown hair, gawky, eats one of my stickers. I forgive him.

Next morning I’m roped into shooting a documentary. The film crew drives me to a town sitting on a hill, they go on about how it’s much smarter than building on a taller mountain. I’m pissed about that too. I stop at a local store to buy some snacks, everything is outrageously expensive. I’m told we are going to shoot on a beach next, I’m upset because I just want to go home. Plus I got my period, along with the snacks I have to buy pads. I go looking for a bathroom and can’t find one. The crew is growing impatient.

I Was So Smug Right There In The End

I dream that I’m lured on a ship with a group of friends with the promise of ice cream. The ship is rather big and looks like it’s made of metal containers welded together. It can travel on road and also jump over hills, which we do.

My friends tell me they need to hide, so I suggest my uncle’s mountain house. We’re already nearby so we get off the ship and start to climb, arrive in the middle of the night. I say everybody be quiet because he’s sleeping. We hear the sound of a toilet flushing and my uncle appears on the door, he says we woke him up anyway and let us in. My friends are hungry so he says they can eat anything from his vegetable garden.

At this point I see my friends as if through an anime opening, and I realize we are indeed in a cartoon episode. I read online that fans are debating about the setting and I’m fuming because, of course it’s set in my town! Didn’t they see the buildings, the architecture? I go back and rewatch the flight of the container ship, yes, see there, how it jumps over a castle? That is my town’s castle, no doubt.

I’m looking forward to share my knowledge to the rest of the interenet, when my alarm rings, leaving me disappointed.

I Love It When I can Remember So Many Details

I dream that I’m watching the new season of The Crown. The episode starts with the Queen visiting her son Andrew, he lives in a dark, dirty castle with his two little girls and wife. For some reason the actress who plays Fergie has giant fake lips.

We cut to Prince Edward, who is a young professor, hot but in a reassuring, glasses and sweaters kind of way. He meets his future wife and I find myself thinking it’s all very Notting Hill. A group of disabled students go to see him complaining that they aren’t allowed to take part in the school recital. Edward makes a phone call and the Queen and Margaret appear, this time as played by Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby. The Queen winks at the students.

Next we see them all doing aerobics on a stage, wearing black leotards and leg warmers. Claire and Vanessa are really good dancers. Also Benedict Cumberbatch is on stage, it’s a fun scene but I’m wondering, it’s the 80s, what’s he got to do with anything? Shouldn’t it be Michael Jackson instead?

A new episode starts and the Queen, now played by Olivia Colman, comes along with me and my classroom on a school trip. We go up to the mountains, it’s winter and the scenery is a bit dreary. We come across a pretty lake, I want to take pictures but I have to run away when a wild goose starts chasing me.

We stop in a little village, our hotel has a 1 star out of 5 review but the Queen seems perfectly happy in her bedroom. I have some noodle soup and the next morning go back home. At the train station I realize some guys are following me. I hide in a church and text my dad for help. He replies that he’s not gonna get up from the couch and I’ll have to deal with it on my own. I text back,

If they rob and rape me it’s gonna be all your fault!

Mountain Outing

I’m with friends and family at our mountain house, we are all sitting around a wooden table. One of the guests is Sharon from FBE, I’m telling her all about my neighbor S. and how he’s like a brother to me. He’s also here with my siblings and they’re all cuddling with kittens, I try to take pictures but my phone layout is all wrong and I don’t know how to fix it.

We see a group of American tourists walking in our vegetable garden and plucking up our food like it’s a quirky, fun thing to do, I hang out from the second floor window and yell but they don’t hear me. I run downstairs and to the garden, I tell them I took pictures of them (a lie, since my phone is messed up). A woman says she’s gonna sue me for that, I say that I’m gonna sue them first for stealing!

Another of our guests is Alex Danvers, she’s my girlfriend but it’s a secret. I feel quite self-conscious comparing myself to her, she’s so gorgeous and I’m chubby, plus my hair has gotten so long since the lockdown started. She assures me I’m beautiful no matter what, then as a romantic gift she transfers a Pokémon to my phone, I don’t know how she managed it since I can’t seem to work my phone at all. I promise her I’ll visit as soon as the travel ban is lifted.

It’s evening and time for our guests to go home, I offer to accompany them. We walk down the mountain path, Alex and I a few steps behind, holding hands and hoping nobody will notice. About halfway to the village we stop at a tiny airport. My guests are going to take a small tourist aircraft, they stand on the landing strip and I can see under the floodlights dozens and dozens of people sick with Covid-19, all lying on stretchers and waiting for their turn to get on the plane.

A Little Walk

I’m walking with my siblings in town, we’re looking for a stationary store. We stop to look through the window of a new ice cream parlor, they have a giant vat of vanilla cream covered with Nutella.

We are now walking on a mountain road, you can see the night sky so perfectly from here. I try to take a picture, but people keep walking in front of the camera and it’s so frustrating. A UFO appears, and still people are pushing me and trying to grab my phone so I can’t take a clear picture and I’m so, so, so angry.

Severed Sex

While channel surfing my family and I notice a church with a bell tower very similar to our city’s clock tower, tall and covered in reddish-brown bricks. I do some research and find out both towers were built by the same architect. The only difference are the colorful statues on the other city’s tower: they paid to have them painted, while ours are just simple brass.

Along with my siblings, I climb up a mountain road to see the tower from above. My boss is also there. From that far up we can even see the supermarket one city over, I’m confused because I’d never noticed it before. It was built recently, mi siblings explain.

I follow my boss to her villa, where I’m supposed to do some computer work for her. I point out that I’m gonna need two monitors, she reminds me she bought me a tablet and I can use. While we talk I try to subtly hint about my birthday coming soon, because I’m hoping she’ll get me a present. She’s a generous lady!

A young man bursts inside the house on a red fire truck. Boss Lady is appalled, so I assure her I’m gonna deal with it. I point out to the man that his father was here earlier today (also on a fire truck) to hook up with Boss Lady but had to come home empty handed. The man won’t listen to reason. He gets down the truck, leaves his penis neatly wrapped on a coffee table and goes to the living room to watch TV, saying he won’t leave until he’s satisfied.

Boss Lady’s secretary steps up, a thin blond man who looks almost ill. He says he’ll sacrifice himself for the good of the Company. An awkward hand job with the detached penis later, fire truck man emerges from the door with a big smile, declares himself satisfied, and leaves.

Store Ninjas

I’m at the store working with my cousin G. A tall guy walks in and start arguing with G., so I take him to the side trying to calm him down. He’s truly massive, I’m barely taller than his elbow, and his arms are bigger than a tree trunk. He’s very young though, his face looks dopey and lost. I ask him gently if he’d like to do something with his life and come work with us at the store. He says he’ll think about it.

It’s getting late and I want to go home for the night, but our boss shows up and recruits us for one last mission: turns out our store offers ninja services too! Cousin G., Boss Lady and I, dressed in black to hide in the darkness, start climbing a glass skyscraper. The two of them are very agile and I feel incompetent. A group of enemy ninjas attacks us and we fend them off with big plastic weapons.

We finally reach the top of the building and now it’s time to sneak inside the penthouse, where a big party is happening. I fill my backpack with junk food, potato chips, soda cants etc., so if I get caught I can say I was just stealing party food instead of something much more important.

The man we are looking for, a tux-wearing, Bond-esque villain, escapes on his expensive car, we chase him up the mountains. The road is curvy and snowy and I’m surprised I don’t get car sick. We reach a mountain lodge where we quickly kidnap the villain’s wife. Fjord from Critical Role joins us, he tricks the man into drinking wine spiked with tranquilizer, and we kidnap him as well. Unfortunately he’s a charming villain and our group of ninjas is soon suffering from Stockholm syndrome. Not long after, all the girls in the group are getting mani-pedis from him.

Fantastical Mountains

I’m on a quest with a party of adventurers, we’re trekking the mountains of a fantasy land. I come across a samurai who challenges me to a duel; we can’t fight up here though, we need to go back home, somehow. Eventually I borrow a big, heavy falchion from a companion and transfer my consciousness inside a town robot, big and awkward and clunky like something out of Machinarium.

The city is cold, but I feel terribly hot because my body is still up on the mountains. A cop shows up and tries to arrest me, I fight him without talking because, even though I look like a robot, he’d still recognize my voice.

Back to the mission, one of our party’s secret agents, a woman in the body of a little girl in pigtails, sneaks inside a mountain house. Her plan is to hide for a few hours, but she’s discovered by the place’s owner, who happens to be Meryl Streep. Meryl sees the little girl wearing a floral pinafore, hiding under her bed, and assumes she’s an orphan escaping from the war. She decides to adopt her. News of her generosity spread and more and more children show up at her house.

Now our prospective zooms out, from the green peaks to the blue planet we’re on to the blackness of space to a second red planet orbiting around us. I’m sitting behind my computer screen and fixing sliders on my sim world, because I’ve been playing a game all along.
